Contents
This procedure lets anyone report content they believe is illegal or breaks the content rules, including copyright infringement. It implements article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) and article 6 of the French LCEN.
1.In an emergency
Sexual content involving a minor: report it with the “Minor” reason (it is then hidden immediately pending our review) and, if you wish, to the French authorities on PHAROS: www.internet-signalement.gouv.fr or to Point de Contact: www.pointdecontact.net.
Threat to someone’s life or safety: call 112 (or your local emergency number). We inform the authorities ourselves when content brought to our attention warrants it.
2.How to report
- The “Report” button, available on every story and every chapter, is the fastest way. No account is needed. Choose the reason (minor, prohibited content, copyright, other), describe the problem and, if you want to be kept informed, give your email address.
- By email, to [TO BE COMPLETED: reports email address], in particular for copyright claims or reports about several items.
3.What a notice must contain
So that we can act quickly, a notice must include:
- the exact address (URL) of the content concerned: story or chapter (the button fills it in for you);
- a sufficiently substantiated explanation of why you consider the content illegal;
- your name and email address, except for notices about child sexual abuse material, which may be anonymous;
- a statement that the information provided is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
Copyright
If a text reproduces your work without permission, please also specify:
- the work concerned (title, original place and date of publication, or anything that identifies it);
- your capacity: author, rights holder or authorised representative (in which case, attach the mandate);
- the passages reproduced, if the text is not copied in full.
Knowingly submitting an inaccurate notice to have lawful content removed is a criminal offence under French law (LCEN article 6: one year’s imprisonment and a €15,000 fine).
4.How we handle your notice
- If you gave an email address, we acknowledge receipt of your notice.
- Some notices automatically hide the content: a single report for a suspected minor, or three reports from different people.
- Each notice is reviewed by a person, diligently, objectively and in a non-arbitrary manner. Notices about minors are handled first.
- We inform you of our decision (kept, removed, restricted) if you gave an email address, stating whether automated means were used.
5.Statement of reasons to the author
When content is removed or hidden, or an account is suspended, the author receives by email a statement of reasons (DSA, art. 17) stating:
- the content concerned and the measure taken;
- the facts and circumstances relied on, and whether the decision follows a notice;
- whether automated means were used to detect the content or to decide;
- the rule of the Terms or the legal provision breached;
- the available means of redress.
The identity of the person who submitted the notice is not disclosed to the author, except for copyright claims where necessary.
6.Appealing a decision
The author of removed content, as well as the person who submitted a notice, can appeal the decision within six months by replying to the email received or by writing to [TO BE COMPLETED: contact email address]. Appeals are reviewed by a person who, where possible, did not take the initial decision. If the appeal is well founded, the content is restored.
You may bring the matter before the competent courts at any time.
7.Abusive notices
After a warning, we may stop prioritising, for a reasonable period, notices from someone who frequently submits manifestly unfounded ones.
